BreedingValue to be represented at MACFRUT trade fair in Rimini (Italy)

From 8th to 10th May 2024 the global fruit and vegetable supply chain will gather at MACFRUT trade fair at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy. With 1,400 exhibitors representing the entire supply chain Macfrut can be considered as the most international agrifood event in Italy. With about 100 events scheduled during the three-day trade fair the focus is on the fruit and vegetable supply chain, a strategic sector of the Italian agri-food industry.

The BreedingValue project will be represented at the MACFRUT trade fair with its own exibition booth. The project coordinator Bruno Mezzetti from the Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona (Italy) considers this as an excellent opportunity to present the project to the international agrifood industry. ”Ensuring that BreedingValue is showcased at this internationally renowed trade fair gives us the chance to present and discuss project activities and first results with key stakeholders from the global fruit and vegetable industry“ says Bruno Mezzetti.

Additionally, it is foreseen that the Italian Institute of BioEconomy of the Italian National Research Council (IBE-CNR), also partner within the BreedingValue consortium, conducts a consumer study as part of the Work Package 4 activities within BreedingValue. “Our idea is to give to MACFRUT participants the opportunity to taste some of the BreedingValue top strawberry cultivars, provided by the Marche Polytechnic University (UPM), and evaluate them while executing a guided consumer test” indicates the leading researcher at IBE-CNR Stefano Predieri.
